Panel-O-Foam™ – Advanced Composite for Training Systems
We, at Trango Systems, are often asked about the material all our products are made of. Why is it good? Why did you choose this specific composite for your modular systems? Can it be used outdoors? Can it be used with live fire? And so on.
In this short overview I’ll try to answer these questions and elaborate a bit more about Panel-O-Foam™ – the material Trango Systems uses to manufacture all its products.
How Panel-O-Foam™ behaves in Live-Fire and Simunition Training
Live-Fire
Ricochet-eliminating: rounds pass through cleanly, without producing hazardous fragments. This supports safer training around walls, targets, furniture items, and the rest of the equipment manufactured by Trango.
Round endurance: a single target or wall section can withstand over 12,000 rounds of 5.56 mm or over 3,000 rounds of 9 mm, fitting high intensity training.
Training Ammo
With training ammunition, the material resists penetration, maintains integrity, and can be used repeatedly.
Environmental Factors
Weather-resistant: built to hold up under heavy rain, snow, UV exposure, and extreme temperatures. This means that all the training equipment manufactured by Trango Systems can be used outdoors anywhere, any time of year.
Handling Advantages
Panel-O-Foam™ is extremely lightweight, yet very sturdy and stable. This ensures easy transportation and reduced shipping costs. Besides, the reconfiguration becomes almost effortless, as just a few people can move the walls and other equipment easily, changing floorplans and drills in minutes or hours (for larger installations).
Why the material matters
- Lightweight parts allow for rapid reconfiguration. It keeps trainees from repeating the same known route over and over again.
This also means short installation timelines that accelerate training availability.
- The use of the same material for all products lets components connect across different product lines. This means that programs can scale as training progresses, and more and more different settings can be configured with the same Lego-like components.
- Ricochet-free targets and other training equipment endure high round counts, cutting replacements, downtime, and costs.
- Durability: weather resistance and high shot endurance mean longer use and lower maintenance and replacement costs.
This overview covers the key information about Trango Systems’ Panel-O-Foam™: how it supports shoot houses, CQB tracks, targets, barricades, and integrated training sets, and why its properties matter for safety, durability, and flexible layouts.
